by Raising the Bar Staff

Hosted by WestEd and Secondary Literacy partnership, Content Literacy in History-Social Science is the the sixth and final webinar in the "Implementing the Common Core State Standards: Classroom Connections" series.

In this session Shennan Hutton will present lesson activities that use historical investigations to develop skills called for in the California Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts/Literacy—close reading, identification of vocabulary and point of view, and citation of evidence in writing.

The activities are derived from the History Blueprint curriculum of the California History-Social Science Project and grounded in historical content from the History and Social Science Content Standards for California Public Schools.

Hutton, a former high school history teacher, is a professor of history at the University of California, Davis.
